My latest life quest, costume designing, has brought me to Palomar college.  I never wanted to go to Palomar.  It seemed everybody went here after high school and I didn’t want to be a part of that.  When I decided to enroll in college, I chose MiraCosta.  The view of the ocean on a daily basis was reason enough for me to go there.  After a year and a half of being up in the air about my major, jumping from liberal studies to theatre, I have finally decided to major in theatre with an emphasis in costume design.  Just my luck, as soon as I found a great theatre to be a part of, I decide to major in something that the school doesn’t offer.

Which brings me back to Palomar.  The school is so odd.  The pathways through the classes are like jungle mazes.  Sounds fun, but it’s really not.  But I guess I should be positive about it since I’m sure I’ll be spending at least a year there. Heres to hoping I make at least one friend this semester.

I started my first two fashion classes on Wednesday.  History of Fashion & Costume and Fashion Illustration & Presentation.  With stage makeup, sociology, and costume design interning on the play She Loves Me,  this is already looking to be a promising semester.

My first assignment for illustration was to find 10 tear sheets of fashion models.  A few weeks ago when sketchpads were on sale at Michael’s I bought one.  Of course it’s too small, so I used it this evening to attempt to start sketching my 10 tear sheets.  Needless to say, I’m not an incredible artist, but I feel that with the right training and some good practice I’ll be able to master the art. ha!

So my thoughts might be all over the place in this thing.  That’s kind of how my brain works.  But I plan to write about my life; which involves school, wedding planning, designing all the dresses in my wedding, and working as a barista at the local coffee shop.

Enjoy!
